School leaver employment supports (SLES) are supports available to students in their final year and preparing to leave secondary school. These supports give you the skills and confidence to help you move from school to employment. We offer individualised supports for up to 2 years after finishing school to help you get ready for work and plan your pathway to employment.

School leaver Employment Support (SLES)

Employment Navigators School Leaver Employment Supports is a project to support school leavers with higher support needs through the SLES process.

Employment Navigators links people to employment opportunities, whilst also involving on the job support from GAP Support.

This provides school leavers with a wrap around service that includes

One to one support through the SLES process, including travel and other skills
Access to work trials with the provision of support
Links to local employment opportunities through dedicated staff
Opportunities to access community based employment through a range of employment models
One to one support from experienced support workers
✔  Opportunities to dovetail employment support with other community support, including community participation
Support from a registered NDIS provider with management and staff with the right experience and qualifications

School leaver employment supports help participants who have difficulties in the areas of learning, social interaction and self management to move from school to work and are available in the final years of school and directly after leaving school.

NDIS Funding

The NDIS can fund school leaver employment supports for up to two years, depending on the school leaver’s circumstances. Each school leaver’s employment supports will be different. The following skills may be part of an individual program of supports to help participants get ready for and gain employment:
